Jasmine Rogan is a gardener, Lead Preschool Teacher at Ypsilanti Community Schools, loving wife, and the mother of two kiddos and a cat named Tom. Originally born and raised in Detroit, Jasmine moved to Ypsilanti to attend Washtenaw Community College and the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. She has taught as a teacher for five years, and during that time she was responsible for organizing and launching a community garden program at her school that teaches kids how to grow their own food. She has almost a decade of gardening experience, and has volunteered extensively during her time here in Ypsilanti to preserve several natural areas in the community, including Frog Island, Cory Orchard, and Parkridge Community Garden. Jasmine’s first exposure to gardening was through her aunt, who grew tons of fresh vegetables at her home. She has invested a lot of time into learning how to grow food to take care of herself and the people around her, and is very passionate about passing down these growing traditions to her two children and other younger generations. Outside of tending to the herbs in her garden, Jasmine loves to spend time with loved ones, go on nature walks, bike, and do yoga.
